Where it all started

The Date: July 3, 2003

The Event: Guerrilla marketing event for the launch of Toyota brand Scion

The Catch: The event needed to reach their target market for the release of the new Toyota brand Scion, and they needed it for the July 4th weekend.

The Solution: Beach Sand Sculptures

Our principal, who was just breaking into the event industry, quickly put together a team to produce the event. The next day they were on Hermosa Beach building a nearly full-size Scion xA car in the sand and handing out swag to the South Bay locals. This guerilla marketing event led to 5 other Scion sand castle event activations along the California coast.

Meet the team

Ben Fox is the founder and President of Matrix Events. The dream to open up his own event company started in his hometown of Minneapolis, MN while he was DJ’ing and promoting various night clubs and social events. Once he moved to Los Angeles, CA after graduating college, he discovered the corporate and marketing side of the event business and he was hooked. After 20+ years of producing live events throughout the world, Ben moved back to the US and started Matrix Events in Denver, CO in 2018. They have pivoted strongly to virtual events and now leaders in the industry.

Ben has lived a unique life as he lived in 4 different countries and travelled to over 40 nations! He is a world champion sand sculptor – think a 17’ Hogwarts Castle in sand! His family is his driving factor for everything he does – his lovely wife Amber, is the heart of the company and 2 kids, Braxton and Kaya, keep Ben grounded and energized for the marathon of being a father and business owner.

With over 20 years of professional experience, Amber brings a global perspective to her role as our fearless marketing and product development guru. She has split her career between the medical profession as an EMT, Paramedic and Nurse with her business-sided experience in high-level sales, marketing, consulting and event management.  Additionally, her many years as a global Event Producer in places like Dubai, Singapore, Macau and Thailand, allow Amber to use her diverse global experience to lead the Matrix Marketing & Product Development efforts.  Whenever we need new ideas and how to bring them to market, Amber is our go-to port of creativity.

While Lilly was studiying for her Bachelor's of Science in Event and Meeting Management with two minors in Entrepreneurship and Theatre from Metropolitan State University of Denver, she quickly entered the virtual event world with Matrix Events. She has been in the special event and hotel industry but really found her passion in serving others and creative drive. Paying close attention to detail when it comes to graphic design, talent, and production, Lilly ensures that the little things can go a long way. Even her chipotle orders are aesthetically appealing!

 

She is a Colorado Native, and loves to travel while taking every chance she gets to explore. When indoors, she writes poetry, does dance, and records episodes for her podcast that help others grow.

Madison Hauser is a Colorado native and 2019 graduate of the College of William and Mary/University of St. Andrews Joint Degree Program, where she received a BA with International Honors in English. Previously, she served as a Production Apprentice for Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach, Florida, and as a Production/Design Assistant for Denver-based events company Pink Monkey Solutions. She has planned and worked countless events, weddings, and festivals in the US and UK, including the Aspen Food and Wine Festival, On The Rocks Festival, and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Currently, she also works for Actors Theatre in Louisville, KY as their Patron Experience Apprentice for their virtual 2020-21 season. During quarantine, she started her own production company, Aguas Arts Ink, and serves as its COO and Producing Director. 

 

Madison is a published author! She loves writing (fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry). She's also a twin! Madison's brother also lives in Colorado and studies percussion at Colorado State University.

Eden's passion for experiential marketing is evident in the creative injection she strives to put into everything she is involved in. Her objective isn't just to produce a great event but to create an immersive, engaging experience so that the guests come away with a sense of community that lasts well beyond the initial interaction. After stints in New York City and Buenos Aires, Argentina, Eden is bringing her 15 years of experience in events, client service, project management, and non-profits to the virtual world. Eden is excited to be part of the Matrix team, creating unique and fun events that are breaking down the digital barriers.

Natalia comes from a background in event production and experiential campaigns. She has 10 years of experience working for agencies across the country doing national campaigns for companies like Patron and Apple to name a few. Her passion lies in creating memorable experiences through events whether live or virtual. She recently moved from Miami a year ago to Denver but is originally from Colombia. When she's not managing an event she's an attendee at one or at a concert. Natalia is an event addict, attending 5 events a month... at the minimum! Some of her faves from the year were Rufus Du Sol, The Immersive Van Gogh Experience, and a Diplo Red Rocks concert. When in doubt you can just find her at Red Rocks Amphitheater.
